The goal of this assignment is to propose a policy that addresses a social determinant of health or ethnic/ racial disparities to improve health outcomes. Whatever you decide your policy will be, it needs to be justified with evidence as to why that policy will be useful- what problem will the policy solve? Be specific – explore the evidence to identify data to support your policy. Write an APA-style paper with 3-5 pages of content that answers the following questions about your proposed policy (think of the nursing process): Assessment of the Issue:

What is the problem the policy is addressing? Use numbers- how many people have this problem? How do you know the problem is not being solved some other way? (this would also be considered “background” for research studies) Specific Policy being proposed. There should be a succinct policy statement. Clear and well defined. Plan: Detail your policy and its goals (proposed outcomes- be specific. Goals for the policy should be measurable and realistic); how would your policy be carried out- what exactly would be done to get the population to participate? Who are the stakeholders involved in this policy? What arm of the iron triangle will your policy address? How might the other arms be affected by the policy?
